Seymour's Favorite Book

My all-time favorite book would have to be The Kite Runner, by Khaled Hosseini. I came across this book back in the 11th grade. The Kite Runner follows the story of Amir and his journey for redemption after framing his childhood best friend Hassan to avoid the shame of watching him being raped and bullied and doing nothing about it.
This is my favorite book because it gives you a history lesson, and teaches you to be a better person. The protagonist is very inspiring. Regardless of what he did in his past, he acknowledges that it was wrong and is trying to fix it. In order to overcome his shame, he goes as far as adopting a child! I think that is very honorable. To go along with the awesome book there is a movie that portrays the characters perfectly!
The techniques that the author used to pull me in were foreshadowing and suspense. An example would be at the beginning of the book when Amir gets a call that someone has passed away. It foreshadows the death of a main character but also leaves suspense as to who it is.

This book could pull any reader in! I recommend you all go and check it out!

  1. Man I had to read that book for my English class! I enjoyed the writing and I probably would have more if I hadn't been assigned to read it lol. I never did like Amir though, even at the end of the story. I can see why you like it though, and I just thought that it was cool that You read the same book I did and had a very different opinion.
